Motivational: The power of engagement

By GEORGE SICHULA
If you are living in the PAST or in the FUTURE, you will never find a meaning in the PRESENT.

Sometimes we may long for the future or be blinded by the past when our life is happening right in front of us.

As you become more present, you begin to re-perceive your circumstances, transforming a miserable reality into a glorious one.

Being present and conscious to what’s going on at the moment is a great way to relieve fears and worries.

It allows some clarity of mind and enables us to focus our attention on the task at hand. It’s not always easy, but there are ways to foster ‘Presence’ as I discovered years ago when I was going through one of the darkest periods of my life.

Sometimes we get so involved thinking about the past or the future that we simply forget what’s going on right in front of us.

Whether at home, whether at work, or whether at play, how can you be present in your now? Whatever you’re doing right now, learn to focus completely on one thing.

Pay attention to every aspect of what you’re doing: to your body, to the sensations, to your thoughts, you will notice your thoughts wandering. That’s okey.

Notice the wandering thoughts and bring yourself back to the issue or task at hand. Live one day at a time. Be joyful in whatever you are doing, grateful that you’re able to do that task and fully appreciate every movement and tactile sensation of the task.

Thich Nhat Hanh said, “Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the earth revolves – slowly, without rushing towards the future. Live the actual moment. Only this moment in life.

Practice, practice and being present will become natural. Practice throughout the day, every day. You can have little useful cues to remind you to come back to the present.

Meditation is a fantastic way to practice, only because it removes the complexity of the world and allows you to just learn to be aware of your mind and to bring yourself back to the present. Lord Chrishna said, “The mind that is in control – is your best friend. The mind that controls you – is your worst enemy.”

Live now, act now, achieve now, love now and do now or never. Tomorrow is a myth. It’s very trick only God knows. Today is the yesterday’s tomorrow you planned to do something. Wake up!!!

Mwilakaba sana!!!!!! See you in the field….
