Vandenbroeck calls 24 locals for Chipolopolo camp

By Martin Chawanzi
Chipolopolo Coach Sven Vandenbroeck has summoned 24 local players for camp.

Vandenbroeck told FAZfootball.com that he had drafted some players from junior national teams as part of a long term developmental plan for the Chipolopolo.

“I have included players from the U17 and U20 as part of a long term development plan. Some of the players we wanted for this camp are engaged with the Barclays Cup so we have given their slots to the deserving young players,” he said.

Eight clubs are in action this weekend in the Barclays Cup quarterfinals in Kitwe where top guns Zesco, Zanaco, Power Dynamos, Nkana, Green Buffaloes, Green Eagles, Mufulira Wanderers and Young Buffaloes square off.

Vandenbroeck has roped in U17 national team skipper Alex Mwiinga and the trio from the U20 comprising Francisco Mwepu, Benson Kolala and Lameck Banda.

The coach is expected to name his squad for the back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations fixtures against Guinea Bissau in the next few days.
