ZRA to engage cross boarder traders

By Staff Writer
Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) will soon launch an intensive awareness campaign among small-scale cross border traders with the aim of changing their attitude and perception towards taxation.

ZRA Acting Corporate Communications Manager Oliver Nzala says the tax sensitization campaign will equip cross border traders with more information and knowledge on various tax processes.

Mr Nzala said ZRA will work closely with all border stakeholders to fight unscrupulous traders who smuggle goods and thrive on illicit trade.

Mr Nzala said all traders who pass through border points are expected to pay the rightful taxes in accordance with the customs laws and procedures.

He said this when he led a team of ZRA officers for a consultative meeting with the cross-border traders at COMESA market.

Mr Nzala also said that ZRA is determined to facilitate legitimate trade and cultivate good working relations with cross border traders in the country.
