The Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) says One Hundred and 55 tenders were processed through the Electronic Government Procurement System-E-GP during the last quarter of 2021.
ZPPA Director General Idah Chella said the number of processed tenders is expected to increase in 2022 because the usage of the E-GP system by procuring entities is now mandatory.
She said that the use of the E-GP system results is in enhanced efficiency, accountability and integrity in public procurement.
Ms Chella also expressed concern that most suppliers do not respond to online bids sent through the E-GP system because most of them fail to comply with the eligibility criteria relating to social security contributions.

She said that this has an impact on the competitiveness of the procurement process undertaken.
