The Zambia National Service (ZNS) has delivered it’s Eagle mealie-meal which will be sold at a cheaper price in all Shoprite outlets and Choppies in Livingstone.

The chain stores will be selling a 25 kilograms of breakfast meal at K 230 while roller meal will be selling at K190.

Speaking when she flagged off the delivery of 1200 bags to Shoprite and 400 bags to Choppies on Wednesday morning, Livingstone District Commissioner Eunice Nawa advised residents not to engage in panic buying as the commodity was enough to reach out to every household.

Ms Nawa said that the government was dedicated in ensuring that all Zambians can afford a meal adding that that was the reason why it has engaged the ZNS’s Eagle mealie meal to start selling in all Shoprite and Choppies outlets across the country.

“The mealie meal will be available starting today, 1st November 2023 at 230 kwacha for a 25 kilogram of breakfast and 190 kwacha for 25 kilogram bag of roller meal to highten what the Chief Government Spokesperson Mr Cornelius Mweetwa said that the measure is meant to provide citizens with alternative supply of mealie meal which is cheaper on the market,” she said.

“I am urging everyone not to panic or engage in panic buying because ZNS will continue producing mealie meal for everyday consumption,” she said.
