Zesco united move to fourth

Champions Zesco United on Wednesday climbed to fourth on the log after beating Kabwe Warriors in rescheduled Week Two in Kabwe.

The 2-0 victory at Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium moved the Ndola outfit moved to nine points, seven behind pacesetters Green Buffaloes.

Second half goals by defender Solomon Sakala and Kenyan Jesse Were were enough for Zesco to bag maximum points.

Zesco are now two points behind third placed Nkwazi and second placed Buildcon.

Coach Numba Mumamba said in the aftermath of the win that overcoming Warriors is a motivation to the team ahead of the Nkana game on Saturday.

“We are excited with the victory. The players accounted for themselves very well unlike when we played Kafue Celtic. The team showed a lot of character of a champion that’s why we have bagged the three points,” he said.

Prior to beating Warriors, Zesco lost 2-0 to promoted side Kafue Celtic in their previous fixture.

“The overall performance from everyone was good. Everyone did what we expected them to do. That is the more reason we dominated the game. We are very happy with the attitude. This is a great motivation as we prepare to face Nkana on Saturday.” he said.

Zesco will be away to Nkana on Saturday.
