Zambia’s CAF club envoy Zesco United has earned $275 000 which is equivalent to K3, 280, 000 for reaching the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup and subsequently coming out 4th in Group C.
According to the cafonline.com revised revenue grid that covers the period 2017-2020, all clubs that gets ejected at the group stage, will earn $275, 000 which is better than the $165 000 which was earned in 2016.
Zesco already has a shirt sponsorship deal with African Banking Corporation (Atlasmara) which is worth K1, 200 000.
Meanwhile, Nkana, who came out second from Group C with 9 points, will have total earnings of $350 000 which is equivalent to K4 175 000, for reaching the quarterfinals of the competition.
The money that has been earned by both Zesco and Nkana from participating in CAF competitions in the 2018/19 season has already covered the expenses they incurred in terms of travel costs, plane tickets, players’ salaries and lodging fees among other things.
If Nkana works hard and reach the semi-finals of the competition, they can increase their total earnings to $450 000 which is equivalent to K5 380 000.
This money is enough to buy quality strikers and defenders who can propel the team to greater heights, both at the local and international front.
In addition, the Wusakile boys can use the money to beautify part of their stadium which do not look attractive especially when watching the matches on TV.
