Zambian champions Zesco United Football Club have been eliminated from the 2019/20 CAF Champions League following a 0-0 draw between Egyptian Zamalek SC and TP Mazembe in a match played on Friday evening at Al Salaam Stadium in Cairo.
Mazembe have officially won Group A with 11 points with a game to spare while Zamalek are second on 8 points while Zesco and Agosto of Angola are joint bottom with two points each.
The result in Egypt means Zesco can only finish third or fourth of Group A as the maximum they can go is 8 points the same as Zamalek, but the Egyptians have better head-to-head over the Zambians after forcing a 1-1 draw away in Ndola and a 2-0 home win collecting four points in that fixture compared to Zesco’s one.
Agosto on the other hand will stand a chance of finishing second if they beat Zesco at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium tomorrow and Zamalek in the last game next week.

Zesco’s last two games have now become formalities. They will finish the campaign with an away fixture at TP Mazembe next week.
