Zesco connects a million customers

Zesco has increased its customer base to 1, 000, 000 costumers connected to the National Grid.

This is in line with its strategic focus areas of growing its business portfolio by increasing the customer base.

The corporation has witnessed growth of about 400% between 2000 and 2019, with the customer base increasing from 200, 000 in the year 2000, to about 900, 000 in the year 2018 and consequently 1, 000, 000 customers this year.

Zesco Public Relations Manager Hazel Zulu said Zesco is delighted inform the National the milestone achievement of its one millionth customer.

Ms Zulu said Zesco has connected it one millionth customer to the National Grid.

She said the exponential growth can be attributed to sound growth policies of the Government which has led to massive infrastructural development.

Ms Zulu said it can also be attributed to various electrification projects undertaken with other Cooperating partners.

She said Zesco has over the years embarked on a number of projects in Generation, Transmission and Distribution which has seen the number of customers accessing electricity services increase drastically.

“We are excited about this development as it affirms our resolve to quickly respond to the needs of our customers and match the electricity demand with supply.”
