Zesco back on top of super division after beating forest rangers

CHINOYI CHIPULU
Zesco United on Sunday moved back to the top of the Super Division table after beating Forest Rangers in a Ndola derby.
The Mumamba Numba coached side thrashed Forest 3-0 at Levy Mwanawasa Staduim to dislodge Zanaco from the summit.
Zesco, who have a game in hand against Napsa Stars jumped to 34 points, one above second placed Zanaco, who drew 1-all with Green Eagles on Saturday.
Numba said after the match that he is happy Zesco have managed to win three-matches on the trot for the first time this season.
“So far so good we just have to encourage our team because we want to be winning games. We have been inconsistent interms of winning but I think after today’s win we have unlocked what we couldn’t do in the first round,” Numba said.
Prior to the derby win against Forest,Zesco trounced Buildcon 3-1 and Power Dynamos 2-1.
Numba said winning three matches in a row has encouraged his lads to win the rest of the games.
“At least we have won three games in a row which is a positive sign on our part and we just have to build on this one and try and win the rest of the games that we have especially in the next five days,” he said.
The former Zanaco trainer has attributed the team’s impressive showing in the last three matches to hardwork in training.
He said all the players are putting in their best in training making it hard for his technical bench to name the match day squad.
Zesco will host Lumwana Radiants on Thursday.
