Zanaco captain Kola joins Tanzanian side Azam

BY CHINOYI CHIPULU
Chipolopolo striker Roger Kola has left Super Division Zanaco to join Tanzanian side Azam.

Kola has signed a two-year deal with Azam which will run up to 2023.

Azam confirmed the capture of Kola in a posting on their Facebook Page.

“We are happy to inform you that we have signed a two-year deal with an international striker from Zambia, Roger Kola,” the statement read in part.

Kola becomes the third Zambian to join Azam after midfielder Charles Zulu and defensive midfielder Paul Katema who recently trekked to Tanzania from Cape Town City and Red Arrows respectively.

The other Zambian player at Azam is striker Obrey Chirwa.

Azam are coached by former Zesco United trainer George Lwandamina.

Kola scored 12 goals for Zanaco last season, five behind top scorer and club mate Moses Phiri.

Kola also played professional football in Belgian, South Africa and Israel before returning to Zanaco in 2018.

Midfielder Cletus Chama and Larry Bwalya are the other Zambian players weaving their trade in Tanzania.

Chama and Bwalya are with Dar es Salaam giants Simba.
