Technology and Science Minister Felix Mutati has instructed Post Master General to develop a turnaround strategy for ZAMPOST this month which will allow for innovation and accumulate revenue from the properties it poses.
Mr Mutati said in the transformation strategy for ZAMPOST, critical things that need to be done include transforming the institution into E-ZAMPOST and amplification of the ZAMPOST buses.
Mr Mutati said the institution owns a good building, the main post office, which can be turned into a tech and innovation hub in order to transform into e-post.
Mr Mutati said the e-wallet service by ZAMPOST which will be launched this month is a plus for the institution which must allow ZAMPOST to begin to be seen differently as innovators and not as carriers of mail only.
The minister said there would be no harm renting buses and branding them as ZAMPOST in order to sell the brand, thereby accumulating revenue.
And Mr Mutati said there is need for a mindset shift as a country in order to begin to grow.
He said the ministry will assist in the transformation journey of the country by addressing common challenges, creating a roadmap and benchmarks to accomplish the same.
Mr Mutati said his ministry does not want to associate itself with the vagueness of believing to be doing okay but must be measured based on set targets.
