ZAMMSA clears the air on honeybee drugs

The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) has clarified that Honeybee medicines that were distributed to Kabwe and Kasama General Hospitals were shipped to the two institutions by error.

ZAMMSA Public Relations Manager Patricia Ndulinga said that after the distribution, the Agency immediately contacted and collected the said products from the two Hospitals.

Ms Ndulinga said the internal reviews  conducted indicate that the product was under quality control and should not have been distributed.

” ZAMMSA would like to clarify that the said honeybee medicines ( paracetamol 500mg and 100mg) that were distributed to Kabwe and Kasama General hospital were shipped to the institution by error.

“We wish to unreservedly apologize to the members of the public for this anomaly. ZAMMSA will continue to provide a high level of service that is expected of our institution. ZAMMSA will continue to improve our systems to ensure that they continue to support the delivery of quality health services,” she said in a statement.

She noted that It is not the intention of the institution to distribute medicines or medical supplies under quality control.
