The Embassy of the Republic of Zambia in Brazil has announced that Zambia’s Ambassador to Brazil, Glynne Namulula Michelo, has assumed leadership of the Culture and Media Committee for the Africa Group in Brazil .
This appointment underscores Zambia’s commitment to fostering stronger cultural ties between Africa and Brazil.
As chairperson, Ambassador Michelo will lead initiatives to promote African culture, facilitate cultural exchanges, and empower African artists and media professionals to showcase their talent globally.
The Embassy aims to foster collaboration among African countries to amplify the continent’s collective cultural voice.
Ambassador Michelo takes over from Ghana’s Ambassador to Brazil, Her Excellency Professor Abena Busia, who is credited with advancing the cultural agenda of the Africa Group and the entire continent.
Professor Busia highlighted the strong connections between Africa and Brazil, noting that culture is a key area of cooperation. “They want to talk about textiles, fabrics, shared foods, and see films about Africa… there’s an invisible swell and current of goodwill from Brazil.”
The handover ceremony was attended by ambassadors from Kenya, Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Senegal, who pledged their support for Zambia and Ambassador Michelo.
This development is expected to enhance understanding and appreciation of Africa’s rich cultural heritage in Brazil.
