By Staff Writer

A Zambian has been shot dead in South Africa by suspected stray bullets.

This follows a suspected gun violence that erupted near where he was working from at the time.

The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Harold Zulu who was working as a loader for Zambian registered bus operator based in Johannesburg.

First Secretary Press and Public Relations at the Zambian High Commission in South Africa, Naomi Nyawali said the incident happened in Central Johannesburg’s infamous Kerk Street.

She said that Mr Zulu was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital after an emergency rescue ambulance evacuated him from the scene with the help of his friends.

Ms Nyawali also said  that the remains of the deceased have since been deposited to Johannesburg hospital mortuary, awaiting further investigations by local police.

And Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa Major General Jackson Miti has expressed sadness at the death of Mr Zulu.

Maj Gen Miti has wished the bereaved family members in Zambia God’s strength during this difficult moment.
