A-34-year-old Zambian electrician has been assaulted by a Chinese National Feng Janing 35 at Mineral Junction 2 Quarters in Chambishi district.

Copperbelt police commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba confirmed that the incident happened on September 28, 2023 at around 08:00 hours when Mathews Chabala an electrician reported for work and found there was no electricity.

Mr Mweemba added that Chabala sustained chest pains as kicks and fists were used to inflict pain.

“Brief facts are that on September 28, 2023 around 08:00hours, the victim who is an electrician together with others reported for work and found there was no electricity.
They sat waiting for electricity to be restored when the warehouse manager at the mine commanded them to start sweeping the surrounding,” he said.

Mr Mweemba added that Chabala responded that they were not cleaners and this annoyed the assailant who pounced on the victim.

He stated that Janping was arrested and charged according to the laws and was later released on police bond where he is currently awaiting court appearance next week.
