FQM Trident Foundation launches EDGE

First Quantum Minerals (FQM) Trident foundation has launched the Educating and developing girls’ empowerment (EDGE) in all the schools around the mining catchment.

Speaking during the launch FQM Trident limited community affairs Manager Joseph Ngwira said Trident  Foundation has embark on a robust program to sport girls in schools with sanitary pads to enable girls stay in school and not miss classes.

Mr Ngwira said Trident foundation limited is supporting various programs and projects in order to enhance the quality of education and ensuring that most children and Youths are accessing education.

He also said that Trident foundation limited has so far donated over 5,698 desks to various schools in Kalumbila and neighboring district in the province, 322 students from primary schools and tertiary education have been awarded with scholarships.

Mr Ngwira also said that sanitary towels worth K49, 000 were also donated to Jiwundu Secondary schools to help those that cannot afford.

And Kalumbila District Commissioner Brenda Sankisa said she was delighted with the EDGE program by Trident foundation limited.

Ms Sankisa said Government recognizes the support by FQM Trident limited to the ministry of education in the district and the Province.

She said that the donation of sanitary pads to schools in the district will go a long way in supplementing the sanitary hygiene for the girls.
