ZAMBIA TO MAXIMISE ON FINTECH DIGITAL SOLUTIONS

Technology and Science Minister Felix Mutati says Zambia shall maximise the deliberations at the ongoing Africa Fintech summit so as to lift the digital platform up through collaborations.

Speaking during the official opening of the summit, today in Lusaka, Mr Mutati said the thrust of the Fintech engagement must ultimately thrive and deliver digital transformation landscape leveraged on employed robust technology that will unlock economic opportunities for job creation.

He said Africa will tranfom if only technology is collectively embraced. The Minister urged the summit participants to appreciate the digital technical knowhow at great length.

Mr Mutati encouraged a team – spirit direction that will leverage on enhancement and defined deliverables of financial services. He added that citizen empowerment on the aspect of digital appreciation was another critical area to digest on inclusive factors that will create a trajectory enabling environment backed by a viable digital transformation roadmap.

Minister Mutati believed among other deliberations the summit will interrogte digital innovation and entrepreneurship conceptual interventions, he, however, urged summit officials to also appreciate the digital infrastructure enhancement.

Minister said the newly Zambia’s launched ICT policy by the government will provide for a framework that will support digital transformation in creating access to financial resources and other embraced financial transactions among others.

He said the ICT field is the fastest sector standing at a growth rate of 14 percent hence the government digital connectivity bus system currently is creating robust – transaction connectivity services in an enabling environment evidently appreciated by the entry of Fintech platform that has been tapped by the Bank of Zambia and ZICTA among other entities.

Mr Mutati said the mobile transactions trend growth has recorded nearly 90 percent creating an internalized citizenry usage for productivity.

He urged the meeting to appreciate connectivity – devices that must be sourced on tax wave – concession basis so as to promote and support the end users with affordable and efficient services but eqaully embracing investment both locally and around the regions that will subsquently enhance financial inclusion.

Mr Mutati said the government, next year, in 2024 will embark on creation of far flung community digital services founded on ubuntu communal effort strides to uplift the wellbeing of the citizenry for a collective digital dividend yield.

And Bank of Zambia Governor Dr Denny Kalyalya said the forum was important for the stakehoders in the financial technology Fintech ecosystem sector to explore mechanisms to deliver efficient financial services.

The Governor said the adoption of the modern financial technologies has spurred efficiency gains in the financial services and enhanced on financial inclusion thus creating alot of viable activities.

He said Fintech has recorded fast and efficient digital financial services.

Africa Fintech summit (AFTS) is a global forum where stakeholders gather to form partnerships, mobilize investments, showcase innovations, shape policies towards the vision of a thriving Africa fintech ecosystem built on the on the spirit of collaboration among others.
