Zambia to host Cop-26

By MAIMBO MWEEMBA
Zambia will host the African Group of Negotiators on Climate Change Symposium from March 14th to 17th this year.

Minister of Green Economy and Environment, Collin Nzovu says the Symposium will also identify Africa’s priorities in the forthcoming Climate Change Conference slated for Egypt in November this year.

The African Group of Negotiators’ Symposium will take place in Livingstone, and will focus on reviewing the outcome of the United Nations Climate Change Conference of Parties COP-26.

And Mr Nzovu said officials from the United Kingdom and Egypt will be among speakers set to deliver remarks during the official opening of the symposium.

He said the meeting will bring together experts from 54 countries and other partners in Africa.

Mr Nzovu also said that a team of local climate change experts has since been put together to ensure that Zambia effectively carries out its chairmanship mandate.

He said that Government assembled a Local Organising Committee that is comprised of relevant Government Departments, representatives of civil society, and financial institutions, among others, to prepare for this meeting.

This is contained in a statement issued to the media.
