Zambia to commence sinopharm roll out

Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary, Kennedy Malama the country will soon commence the roll out of the Sinopharm vaccine against Covid-19.

Dr Malama says the vaccine will be administered in selected districts of the country.

He added that government continues to administer the AstraZeneca and Johnson and Johnson vaccines an activity that is ongoing.

“I want encourage members of the public to consider being vaccinated during this period before the anticipated fourth wave at the end of this year into early next year, the  vaccination against Covid-19 remains a high impact intervention as it protects one from hospitalization, severe disease and death,” he said.

Dr Malama added that the country has enough vaccines and will continue to acquire additional doses.

He added that the public will soon get guidance following the review of the various restrictions which have been in place.

“The Ministry remains committed to ongoing strengthening of our disease intelligence and testing pillars to enable us expeditiously detect resurgences in Covid-19,  the country in the last 24 hours recorded 130 new confirmed Covid-19 cases out of 3,777 tests,” he said.
