President Hakainde Hichilema says Zambia stands with the democratic world in voicing out against any threat to international peace and security.
President Hichilema said Zambia is against any form of aggression or war because it believes in living peacefully with other countries.
Speaking when he hosted outgoing Swedish Ambassador to Zambia Anna Hultgard at State House, President Hichilema said Zambia’s position at the United Nations is clear and it is against war.
He said that what is happening in Ukraine is unfortunate and the international community must work together to bring peace to Europe.
President Hichilema also thanked Sweden for standing with Zambia during the difficult time of last year’s general election.
He said Sweden is an all-weather friend which worked towards the respect of the rule of law and democratic tenets.
And Ms Hultgard said Zambia’s democracy is maturing as evidenced by last year’s peaceful transfer of power after the general election.
She also said the Swedish government will continue supporting Zambia in the fight against corruption and the promotion of the rule of law.
