Zambia Records 6 more new cases

Zambia has recorded 6 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total to 35.

Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya says the Ministry managed to run 51 tests on contacts of the group that had travelled to Pakistan.

Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka today, Dr Chilufya said the new cases involves 4, who were directly linked to the group.

He explained that the six include a couple that is friends with one of the people that had travelled from Pakistan and also a domestic worker.

Dr Chilufya said others include a congregant, who came in contact with one of the infected people at a place of worship.

He said the other case is that of a person, who had travelled to India and returned on the same flight with the group that had travelled to Pakistan.

Dr Chilufya noted that the number of COVID-19 positive cases which are as a result of local transmission are 9.

He said all COVID-19 cases are in isolation in designated places and that the case that was reported yesterday of being ill but stable is still in the same condition.

Dr. Chilufya said Government has secured more isolation facilities and has deployed more surveillance staff in the clinics.

He emphasized that the 14 days quarantine is mandatory for those coming from COVID-19 high risk areas.
