Zambia optimistic over Poland Tractor plant

By JOHN SAKALA
Zambia is hopeful that Poland will soon give direction on how the Government-to-Government proposal to set up a tractor assembly plant in Zambia shall proceed.

This is according to Zambia’s Ambassador to Germany Anthony Mukwita who was speaking in a ZNBC Sunday Interview that aired 6th January 2019.

Mr Mukwita also over sees Zambia’s diplomatic interests in Poland.

“Everything on the part of Zambia has been cleared by President Edgar Lungu and the Minister of Finance. We only await direction from the side of the government of Poland which we are optimistic will be ok given the warm relations we have enjoyed over the years.”

“Once the tractor assembly plant is established as espoused by President Lungu in the 7th National Development Plan, Zambia would be competitively attractive in the agriculture sector. We will see a remarkable drop in the cost of agriculture equipment and subsequently a rise in food production as well as a drop in food prices,” Ambassador Mukwita,” he said.

The envoy who also represents Zambia in countries such as the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, the Slovak Republic and Austria described relations with these countries as progressive.

Mr Mukwita touted the rise in scholarships in countries such as the Czech Republic and an agriculture MoU as evidence of growing relations in his countries of extra accreditation and testimony that there was confidence in President Lungu’s government.

Zambia, he said shall remain a favoured destination for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) for many years to come due its stability and ever-growing signs of a budding democracy.

This is according to a media statement issued by First Secretary for Press at the Zambian Embassy in Berlin Kellys Kaunda.
