Zambia Netball team to take part in Pacific Auss Sports Netball

The Zambia Netball National team has broken record in Africa to be the first team invited by Netball Australia Pacific Aus Sports Netball to take part in the prestigious Pacific Auss Sports Netball tournament.

Other countries that have joined a call list from Africa are Kenya and Malawi. The three countries will make their Pacific Aus Sports Netball series debut this April when eight teams compete in the series’ third edition on the Gold Cost, in Queensland.

Returning teams are Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Singapore, and dual-series champions Tonga. Netball Australia Executive General Manager of Strategy, Government and Community Glenn Turnor says Zambia will add value to the sport.

Turnor says the serries highlights the skills, talent, and athleticism of Pacific netball athletes, and aims to provide high-level competition for the national teams of Netball Australia’s Pacific Aus Sports partners.

And Zambia’s High Commissioner to Australia Dr. Elias Munshya says the tournament will put Zambia on the international map and a tool to market Zambia’s sport discipline.

Dr. Munshya says the platform will be used to attract foreign investment partnership and marketing Zambia’s tourism. He said the High Commission will mobilise the Zambia community in Australia to give support to the team.

The series will be held at Gold Coast and Leisure center from 24 to 29th April 2023, with the opening ceremony taking place on Sunday 23rd April.
