Zambia Motor Sport Association (ZMSA) and Chingola Council have partnered to promote motor sports in the district and uplift the standards of the 2.4 kilometre Lawrence Allen Circuit racing track.

ZMSA president Sam Ching’ambu said the association wants to revive the sport and support the club in Chingola.

Ching’ambu said ZMSA want to work with civic leaders and see how best the sport can grow.

He said one of ZMSA mandate is to spread the sport across the country and have seen Chingola has a lot of talent.

Ching’ambu said the association will see to it that it supports the Nchanga Motor Racing Club.

He said that some of the top drivers are from Chingola, hence the need of promoting and supporting the club in Chingola to reach international standards.

“Our law is to see how best we can partner with the Council and support the club which went down and we want to bring it to international standards. We want to make it a calendar event and come next year we will be here again,” he said.

Chingola Mayor Titus Tembo said Chingola is a powerhouse for sports and it has produced sports men and women in different disciplines.

Tembo expressed gratitude towards the team for choosing Chingola to host the tournament because such events help to market our towns.

He has appealed to other stakeholders to come on board and support and make the club to improve to international standard.

ZMSA women in Motor cycling Representative Nikkie Heygate said more women should come on board as motor racing is not just a men sport.
