Zambia’s Finance and National Planning Minister, Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane, has expressed his enthusiasm for the significant presence of Zambian companies at the 2025 Investing in African Mining Indaba in South Africa.
The event, which will conclude on Thursday, has brought together over 8,000 delegates, 1,200 investors, 700 mining companies, and 94 government officials from 100 countries worldwide.
Dr. Musokotwane emphasized the crucial role the private sector plays in economic development, highlighting its contribution to Zambia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) through the provision of goods and services.
He applauded the number of Zambian companies exhibiting at the Indaba, noting that the government is committed to fostering national, regional, and international trade.
The Indaba has provided a platform for stakeholders in the mining industry to share investment opportunities and best practices across the continent.
Zambia’s Acting High Commissioner to South Africa, Ms. Inonge Mwenya, noted that the event has created opportunities for Zambian stakeholders to network, establish partnerships, and collaborate on projects that can drive growth in the mining sector.
The Zambian delegation, led by Dr. Musokotwane, includes Minister of Transport and Logistics Hon. Frank Tayali, Mines and Minerals Development Minister Paul Kabuswe, and representatives from various government ministries, the Zambia National Service, and ZCCM Investment Holdings.
Other Zambian companies and stakeholders exhibiting at the event include Zambia National Commercial Bank Plc, Copperbelt Energy Corporation, Mopani Copper Mines, and Zambia Gold Company.
