Minister of Labour and Social Security Brenda Tambatamba has called on investors to consider Zambia as the best investment destination.
Ms Tambatamba said Zambia is becoming a more attractive investment destination with the New Dawn’s economic agenda.
She said that the Government is focusing on turning around the economy of Zambia by promoting industrialisation, broadening the revenue base which in turn will promote job creation.
Ms Tambatamba said this when Vice President overseas business of Huaxin group of companies which has taken over operations at Chilanga Cement from Lafarge Zambia, Gang Xu paid a courtesy call on her.
She has urged Huaxin Management to strictly observe the labour laws of the country by registering with Zambia Institute of Human Resource (ZIHRM) and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security as an employer.
Ms Tambatamba also advised the new Management to ensure that there is no record of job losses as a result of the transition from Lafarge Zambia to Chilanga Cement.
Speaking earlier Mr Gang Xu, Vice President and Head of overseas business at Huaxin group of companies affirmed to the Minister that his company has taken all employees who worked for Larfarge Zambia.
Mr Gang Xu has since assured the Government that his company will work within the confines of the law.
He reiterated that besides cement production, his company will expend and venture in different construction and building products.
Huaxin group of companies has returned to use Chilanga Cement as their trading name.
This is contained in a statement issued by Joseph Chinyama Public Relations Unit in the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.
