Zambezi MP escape with injuries’ in a road traffic accident

Zambezi West Member of Parliament Musumali Vumango 53, was yesterday involved in a serious road traffic accident along Kitwe Ndola Dual Carriageway near the Toll Gate in Luanshya area.

Copperbelt Police Commissioner Sharon Zulu said the accident happened when the motor vehicle was being driven along the said road from west to east direction and in the process the driver lost control of the motor vehicle which overturned due to excessive speed.

Ms Zulu said involved was a lone motor vehicle a Toyota Land cruiser Reg. No BAV 1618 which was extensively damaged and it was being driven by Zambezi west constituency MP who sustained bruised right arm and body pains.

She said the incident occurred on July 5, 2022 at about 15.35 hours and the MP has been admitted to Ndola Teaching Hospital.

In a similar development Police in Luanshya have recorded a fatal road accident which occurred on July 5, 2022, at about 20:30 hours along Ndola Kitwe Dual Carriageway Maposa area Luanshya.

Ms Zulu said involved was a pedestrian Douglas Malumuna 28, of Maposa East Luanshya who sustained fractured right leg and suspected internal injuries who died on the spot.

She said also involved was a motor vehicle Toyota Hilux registration number AAM 1302 which had a depressed front bumper it was being driven by Inspector Mkandawire Fredrick 41, of Kamfinsa Police Camp Kitwe who escaped unhurt.

“The accident happened when the motor vehicle was being driven along the said road from south to north direction and in the process hit a pedestrian who was crossing the road from west to east direction,” she said.
