Achraf Bencharki and Mostafa Muhammad scored as Zamalek snatched a 2-0 victory against Zesco United to maintain their 2nd position in group A of the CAF Champions League on Friday night in Cairo.
Bencharki opened the scoring for the host in the 4th minute before Muhammad netted in the 89th minute to seal the victory.
Defeat in Cairo leaves Zesco winless after a round of 4 matches and drop to 4th place.
Bencharki and Muhammad goals pushed the home side to 7 points level with TP Mazembe but the Congolese giants have a superior goal difference.
On Saturday, Mazembe battles De Agosto in Lubumbashi.
Zamalek were drawn in Group A, alongside De Agosto, ZESCO United and Mazembe.
