Youths are ingredient for economic growth-Don Mungulube

By CHARLES TEMBO
Copperbelt Youths Chairperson Don Mungulube says youths are an ingredient and resource that drives the economic development of any nation world over.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s International Youth Day which falls on March 12, Mr Mungulube said it is imperative that the youths remain productive, objective and industrious.

He said for the youths in Zambia and Copperbelt in particular, August 12, 2021 is a critical date for the Youths because the country will be heading to the polls.

Let me take this opportunity to encourage the youths to take up the Leadership role in our nation.

“The Patriotic Front under the leadership of President Edgar Lungu has opened up doors for the youths to aspire for the highest positions on the Copperbelt.

“To our youths on the Copperbelt, I want to encourage you to apply for different positions on the Patriotic Front ticket, starting from Members of Parliament, Mayor’s, Council Chairperson and Councillors. The application period is open and youths are encouraged to take up the challenge,” he said.

Mr Mungulube who is Lufwanyama PF aspiring parliamentary candidate said for the youths that do not want to be engaged in politics, he urged them to take up the youth empowerment programmes that Government has lined up.

He said youths should not only be known to aspire for formal jobs, but get the empowerment opportunities and join the informal sector.

“Youths should take advantage of the good Government policies and start aquaculture, farming and other business opportunities provided by the government.

“They should never be allowed to be used as tools of violence especially during the campaigns as we go to the General Elections. Today, Zambia wants a youth group that will positively contribute to national development, unlike a youth group that will spend time on social media insulting leaders.

“I want to encourage, the youth to use social media for positive change. Use social media to create and exchange ideas and innovations,” he said.
