Women participation in politics essential for economic growth

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
Golden Party of Zambia has called on the active participation of women in politics at all levels and inclusion of their perspectives in decision making is essential to Zambia’s economic prosperity, development and promotion of peace and democracy.

GPZ Women National Chairperson Precious Shakafuswa said research indicate that when more women get involved in decision making processes, quality of life reflects the priorities of families, women, and other minority groups.

Ms Shakafuswa said the more closely government represents the composition of society as a whole; the more stable its policies are likely to be.

She said that it is not just important to include women, but also ensures broad representation.

Ms Shakafuswa said as a party that believes in equal representation in the affairs of the nation, GPZ would like to partner with more women to change the governance and economic fortunes of the country.

She said like the youth, there is a lot of untapped potential in women that can unlock Zambia’s wealth.
