Police in Lusaka have picked up a body of a woman discovered dead at her boyfriend’s house.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said Margaret Mudenda whose age is not known was discovered dead with a stench of suspected poison detected on her body and in the room she was found.
She said no physical injuries on the body were observed.
Ms Katongo said the body was discovered by the landlady and neighbor’s after the father of the victim begun inquiring on the whereabouts of his daughter on January 31, 2021.
She said according to some neighbors Mudenda was last seen on 30th January, 2021 at about 16:30 hours.
Ms Katongo said the landlady of Margaret’s boyfriend and neighbors decided to force open the door to the house as it was found locked.
She said the victim was discovered lying dead on the bed and the matter was reported to the police.
Ms Katongo said it is suspected that the victim was locked inside the house as the key to the door was not found.
Investigations have been instituted in the matter. The body has been taken to UTH mortuary awaiting postmortem so as to ascertain the cause of death.
