Witchcraft has rocked Siavonga District where 15 pupils were hearing voices calling their individual names from the blues.
Siavonga District Commissioner Lovemore Kanyama said the 15 pupils from Chimata village in Siavonga from different schools ranging from Grades 7 to 9, on December 10, 2018 acted in a strange manner.
Mr Kanyama said the pupils of Chief Sinadambwe area of Southern province, were running all over villages like mad individuals and hearing voices calling their names.
He said the pupils were later brought to Siavonga District Hospital where they were admitted and discharged the following day after receiving treatment.
“We later took them to men and women of God for prayers where they gained strength and sense. The pupils accompanied by their parents this afternoon December 12, 2018 visited my office requesting transport to be taken back to their village in Chimata.
“My appeal is to individuals practicing witchcraft to kindly spare innocent pupils and civil servants, but rather do it amongst themselves, I have since engaged Chief Sinadambwe for a community meeting in Chimata next week on the way forward,” he said.
Three months ago health workers at Namomba Health Centre freed the clinic due to witchcraft.
