Police in Lusaka have arrested a woman for pouring hot water on her husband after a marital dispute.
Susan Mundlongwa 29, last Friday poured hot water on Derick Bwalya, 48.
The incident happened after Mr Bwalya slapped her as he was infuriated after she went home late.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo confirmed the arrest of Mundlongwa in a statement issued yesterday that the suspect was apprehended having been on the ran for three days.
“Police has recieved a report of Grevious Bodily Harm which occured on January, 1, 2021 at SOS in Matero North in which Gift Bwalya aged 48 of Ranchdale reported on behalf of her young brother Bwalya that his wife poured hot water on his body,” Ms Katongo said.
She said was forced to slap his wife after she went home late but that did not well with her.
“His wife returned home late and this infuriated the husband who later slapped the Mundlongwa picked a pot containing hot water which was on a brazier and poured on her husband,”she said.
Ms Katongo said the victim sustained serious burns on the lower abdomen and other parts of the body.
She Mundlongwa ran away after the incident and the victim was rushed to Matero Level one Hospital where he is currently admitted.
She said Mundlongwa was arrested yesterday when she went to the Hospital to check on her husband.
