A-79-year-old man of Nsungabukanda village of Masaiti district on the Copperbelt is battling for his life after his wife and her friend allegedly burnt him on the private parts with hot water after he refused to sale the family farm.
The victim was burnt on January 31, 2023 but family members to the parties involved tried to conceal the matter by not reporting it to the police for unknown reasons, but the condition of the victim has since deteriorated.
And the Hospital management has described the condition of the victim to be critical as he is getting worse and worse each day.
The family was later prompted to report the matter to the police and the two suspects were later apprehended and are in police custody.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said the victim sustained severe burns on the private parts, on both thighs, both legs and on the buttocks, as very hot water was used to inflict the said injuries.
Mr Mweemba said that on January 31, 2023 John Mumba the husband and Innes Kunda 50, his wife picked up a quarrel which was to do with the sale on part of their family farm which the wife attempted to do.
He said the wife one of the suspect wanted to sale a part of their farm and she had even brought in a friend the other suspect to help in doing that.
Mr Mweemba said the husband insisted by saying that no one was selling any land and the three were having those arguments whilst sitting around the fire which had a pot of boiling water on it.
He said the argument escalated such that the two women allegedly poured boiling water on the suspect and he got burnt.
“The victim was then rushed to the hospital within Nsungabukanda area for treatment,” he said.
The suspects will appear in court soon.
