We’re always steadfast with CSR-KCM

By JOHN SAKALA
Konkola Copper Mines has committed to continue supporting corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes even through its transformative phase underlying its focus to lift production together with community development.

KCM Manager for CSR Brian Siatubi said the company would continue to engage stakeholders in programmes intended to uplift the lives of various communities through the company’s four CSR pillars, namely education, health, sustainable livelihoods and sport.

Mr Siatubi made the commitment after the company was presented with the 2019 National CSR, SDGs Community Impact Award by the Corporate Social Responsibility Network Zambia (CSRNZ) at the recently held inaugural Zambia National Responsible Businesses and CSR Awards in Lusaka.

The Award Ceremony was held under the theme – Shaping Responsible Businesses Towards the attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, (Vision 2030).

The award is in recognition of the company’s commendable efforts to champion CSR in Zambia through the various CSR interventions which Konkola Copper Mines implements.

“KCM has been an industry leader in the area of CSR with a long history of support to various communities, individuals and government programmes. Our CSR focus will only grow to new levels as we believe in uplifting the status of the citizens of this country as a way of contributing to the government developmental goals,” Mr Siatubi said.

“We are pleased that our sustainable development strategy is gaining national recognition and this gives us the impetus to implement more CSR programmes to benefit our surrounding communities,” he said.
