The Anti-Robbery Squad has shot and killed a wanted criminal, Reagan Kalumba, 48, of Mushili Township.
The incident occurred between the Michael Chilufya Sata Toll Gate and Luanshya turnoff.
According to reports, the incident happened on March 6, 2025.
Kalumba was leading officers to recover stolen items in Kitwe and Luanshya when he attempted to escape.
After pretending to answer a call of nature, Kalumba attacked an officer and tried to grab his firearm.

A struggle ensued, and despite warning shots being fired, Kalumba continued to flee. Unfortunately, he was struck by a stray bullet and fell to the ground.
The officer involved in the altercation was unharmed. Kalumba was rushed to Ndola Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An inquiry file has been opened to investigate the shooting incident.
The Anti-Robbery Squad had been tracking Kalumba since receiving a tip on March 1, 2025, that he had relocated to Twapia from Mushili. He was apprehended on March 2, 2025, and taken to Ndola Central Police Station for questioning. Following his interrogation, Kalumba led officers to recover stolen items, including television sets and fridges, in Ndola.
