Police in Eastern Province have arrested a 32-year-old man of Vubwi for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend on her private parts using a stick.
The victim reported that she was assaulted in her private parts by her former boyfriend Gravazio Sakala of the same village using a stick.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo confirmed the development in a statement that the incident occurred on June 1, 2019 around 21hours in Vubwi District of Eastern Province.
Ms Katongo said it is alleged that after the victim advised the former boyfriend to go to his wife, he sneaked into the suspect’s house the following night, got hold of her and inserted a stick in her private parts with the help of an unknown man.
She said the suspect was arrested from Katete yesterday, June 7, 2019 on a bus on his way to Lusaka and he is detained in police custody.
Meanwhile Police in Chipata have arrested a man allegedly defiled his one-year-old five months step daughter.
The suspect is identified as Masaiti Mwale of Mchini Compound, a Malawian is alleged to have defiled the toddler between 04th June, 2019 at 20 00 hours and 05th June, 2019 at 0100 hours in Chipata.
Ms Katongo said the suspect is alleged to have found his wife and baby asleep, then got the baby and defiled it.
She said the mother was awoken by cries of the victim.
The suspect is in custody.
