Veep praises democratic strides made by the SADC region

Vice President Inonge Wina has commended the SADC region for growing its democracy.

Speaking when she received Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Malanji, Mrs Wina stated that she was hopeful that South Africa will hold a free, fair and peaceful elections.

She said a few SADC member states including Malawi, Bostwana and Madagscar have elections in 2019.

Mr Malanji who is also the Head of the SADC Electoral Observer Mission for the 2019 National and Provincial elections in South Africa, said President Edgar Lungu appointed 48 election observers drawn from the SADC member states.

He also disclosed that President Lungu had appointed former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon Kabinga Pande as his alternate as SADC Head of Electoral Observer Mission.

Meanwhile the vice president said she missed the auspicious occasion held to celebrate the 95 Birthday of President kenneth Kaunda.

She wished Dr Kaunda many more happy returns and good health.

Mrs Wina is in South Africa to do her scheduled medical check up.
