Lusaka City Council (LCC) has condemned the spate of vandalism that has recently taken place in the City.
The vice is more rampant along Mungwi road and Madras area of Kamwala where unscrupulous people are stealing solar panels and fittings from the street lights.
LCC Assistant Public Relations Manager Thelma Mbewe said the acts are a drawback on the road infrastructure development the city has recently seen.
Ms Mbewe said the unfortunate situation is leading to the street lights not working to their full capacity.
“It is regrettable that some people are vandalising such development that is meant to benefit the citizenry and which should also be guarded by everyone,” she said.
The Council has since warned people with such ill motives that it is against the law to vandalise public property such as street lights.
She also appealed to the general public to be alert and promptly report such incidences to the Police or Council.
