The Government has called on Zambian artists to use music to promote good morals at family and national level to enhance peace and unity in the country ahead of the August 12 elections.
Northern Province Permanent Secretary Lloyd Chakaba said artists should use their talents and influence in society to anchor their music on the promotion of peace and unity during the campaign and election period.
“President Edgar Lungu wants Zambia to continue being a beacon of peace in Africa and beyond after this year’s elections, peace and unity are key pillars of Zambia’s political stability which should be cherished by all citizens regardless of their political affiliation,” he said.
Mr Chakaba said He urged gospel artists in the region to be ambassadors of peace in their respective churches and communities.
“There is need to use good music to promote good morals in the families and society to mitigate unfaithfulness in marriage, mistreatment of one another and reduce gender based violence,” he said.
Mr Chakaba commended the Seventh-Day Adventist Church for their good works in winning more people to Christ.
He was said this in a speech read for him by Northern Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Sineva Kambenja during the launch of a gospel album by the Remnant Choir of Kapongolo Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Kasama District.
