Caritas Zambia Chingola Coordinator Eugene Mulenga says that the UPND and Alliance partners’ promised to improve the living standards of the people and that will be shown in their first National Budget.
Mr Mulenga said that the UPND Alliance promised to improve the state of the national economy, reduce prices of essential commodities, and provide employment among other promises.
Mr Mulenga said that for this to be attained there is need for more funding to Ministries of Agriculture, Commerce and Trade and small and medium enterprises.
“Government should first contain and manage the current state of business in the country, capacity build the SMEs industry, provide financing for the SME’s , provide markets for the locally produced goods, as this is a sure way of providing employment in the country,” he said.
Mr Mulenga said that the budget is also expected to address the increasing deforestation in the country.
He said the Country has also seen an increase in loss of endangered species; this is the reason the UPND should speak out and address the way forward.
“Our hope is that the UPND government is ready to work with people of likeminded such as political parties, NGO’s and every Zambian with progressive ideas to develop the country,” he said.
