Unza students protest, block Great East road

UNZA Lecturers, workers and students have started their march from University of Zambia to the Seventh Day Adventist(SDA) Church on Katimamulilo Road behind Mulungushi International Conference.

The mass group has blocked Great East Road and motorists are advised to use other routes.

They are protesting against the killing of Vesper Shimuzhila, a fourth year student who was suffocated to death in her hostel.

Shimuzhila died in a hostel in the school of Adult education died due to suffocation after Police officers allegedly threw teargas canisters in her room in October Hostels.

The funeral of Vespers Shimuzhila is being held today and the body is expected to be taken to Namwala for burial.

Chief Government Spokesperson Dora Siliya will lead a delegation of government officials to the funeral service.
