Some University of Zambia (UNZA) Students yesterday mobilised themselves and held a peaceful march from UNZA main campus to Levy Mwanawasa Medical University following the Murder of Oscar Masaiti 25, a third-year Student at Levy Mwanawasa Medical University.

The medical student was murdered by unknown people on February 25, 2023 around 23:00 hours.

Police Deputy Spokesperson Danny Mwale said that the students marched peacefully on February 26, 2023 from 20:00 hours until 23:00 hours.

Mr Mwale said they were peacefully escorted back to UNZA by Police officers and later addressed by the Commissioner of Police for Lusaka Province, Mr Creto Kaanza.

He said the Commissioner advised the students not to conduct their protests or March in the night as it was dangerous for them.

“He thanked them for cooperating with police officers during their march to and from UNZA main campus. The situation is calm and Police officers have been deployed to both Universities to monitor the situation,” he said.
