The University of Zambia (UNZA) in conjunction with the Ministry of Health (MOH) funded by Global Fund will be conducting a research on the prevalent rates of HIV/AIDS and Syphillis among adolescents aged 10-17 years in Chililabombwe district.
Speaking when representatives from both institutions paid a courtesy call on the Office of Chililabombwe Mayor Lucky Sichone the team said they will be going round in 19 selected wards out of the 24 to test volunteering adolescents so as to capture the needed data.
The team added that concert forms will be availed to willing adolescents and no one will be forced to carry out the tests.
They also said that Policy makers have time to conduct activities to curb HIV/AIDS and this exercise will assist them in further understanding the prevalence rates in the district.
And the Mr Sichone thanked the team for the initiative of utmost importance as it will help the youths in the district and especially the girl child.
Mr Sichone also that the team will receive full support from his office to carry out needed objectives for the research program to move smoothly.
