United Kingdom Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Department for International Development Andrew Stephenson has said the United Kingdom is keen to stand shoulder to shoulder with Zambia and work together.
And Zambia’s Minister of General Education Hon. David Mubumba has thanked the UK Government for the continued support extended through the Department for International Development (DfID) in the education sector.
Minister Stephenson made the remark when General Education Minister David Mabumba called on him at His his office in London.
Honourable Mabumba is in London attending the Education World Forum 2020 Global Summit for Education Ministers, under the theme: One Generation: “What does it take to transform education”.
Minister Stephenson said Zambia and the UK Government enjoy historical relations and the UK Government was keen to continue partnering with Zambia.
“We are keen to stand shoulder to shoulder with Zambia and work together in partnership. We are very keen to do that. The UK and Zambia have good historical relations,” he said.
And Hon. Mabumba said the Zambian Government is committed to continue strengthening bilateral education ties between Zambia and the UK.
“As a country we would like to strengthen relations with DfID. We would like to thank the UK Government and DfID for the many programmes that they have been supporting us with. The DfID programmes have built schools, helped with capacity building for teachers and we are grateful that over 2000 Zambian teachers have been trained through DfID,” he said.
