A Zambian national, Tasfex Kayuna, 35, of Monze Town, Southern Province, has been swindled of K130,000 by a Ugandan witch doctor, Omar Jefeero, who promised to double his money.
Kayuna reported that he paid Jefeero the amount in three installments for services related to cash multiplication. However, when the promised results failed to materialize, Kayuna attempted to follow up with Jefeero at his Kamwala South residence, near Chimowa Lodge, but found him absent.
Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said officers visited the location and discovered several suspicious items, including a dead male goat, a headless chicken, and a shallow grave containing a decomposed goat. Additionally, they found counterfeit notes amounting to $700 in United States Dollars and K2,500 in fake Zambian Kwacha notes, as well as charms stored in suitcases and shrines in both bedrooms.
No individuals were present at the premises at the time of the visit, prompting the officers to force entry. Kayuna accompanied police for further investigations, and a docket has been opened.
The Zambia Police Service warns the public to be cautious when engaging with individuals offering suspicious financial services and encourages anyone with information to come forward.
