The United Church of Zambia (UCZ) has refuted a story by the Zambia National Broadcasting (ZNBC) claiming Sefula Secondary School was involved in the ploy to sell a 17-year-old boy living with albinism in Mongu District.
UCZ General Secretary Chipasha Musaba says the united owned Sefula secondary school is different from Sefula Combined School for the visually impaired hence the National Broadcaster should retract the story in question as it does not represent the true image of the School and the United Church of Zambia as an institution.
Rev Musaba the aforementioned school as depicted in the video footage on ZNBC TV 2 news is not the one involv “UCZ has noted with great concern a story that was aired on the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) TV 2 18:00 February 6 ,2023 with a footage insinuating that one of its Schools, Sefula Secondary School was involved in the ploy to sell a 17-year-old boy living with albinism in Mongu district, “he said.
He says that the vision of the Church is to provide learning facilities for the attainment of high-quality education, impart moral and spiritual values and life-skills.
“We wish to further state that as a faith based organization; UCZ has been serving the nation for over 60 years through the provision of quality and affordable education to learners of diverse ethnic and social backgrounds at Early Childhood Primary, Secondary and Tertiary education levels.
“Our vision as a Church is to provide learning facilities for the attainment of high-quality education, impart moral and spiritual values and life-skills in accordance with the teachings and values of our Lord Jesus Christ,”he said
Rev Musaba adds that a story with such misplaced footage has potential to injure the reputation of the Church and its leadership and should be ignored with contempt it deserves.
