By MAIMBO MWEEMBA
Twatasha ward Councillor Jeff Musonda has donated 3,100 Exercise books to pupils in his ward, in an effort to supplement Government’s free education policy.

Speaking at the event, Mr Musonda said that the donation will be done alongside free education to curb excuses of pupils lacking books to start school.

He said that those that score the highest in national examinations in the ward will be awarded as a way of inspiring pupils.

Mr Musonda also said that ward officials will be visiting residents to ensure that every school going child is attending classes.

“There is no need for any child to remain at home when Government has made education free, we need to encourage our children to attend lessons, as school fees have been scrapped off, if we are to develop as a ward we need to understand the importance of education,” he said.

The Pupils that received the exercise books are those starting Grade one and the other group is that which qualified to grade eight and 10.

And Chingola District Commissioner Raphael Chimupi said education is key to development that is why President Hichilema has prioritised it.

Mr Chimupi also said that PTA fees have also been scrapped off, which translates that pupils are just supposed to learn in Government schools.

He also commended the area Councillor for the gesture of donating exercise books to some learns in the ward.

Councillor Musonda was accompanied by some Chingola UPND district officials, Chingola DC and NDC alliance National Spokesperson George Shicula.
