By ALICE NACHILEMBE
The Drivers of the Marooned trucks enroute to Kasumbalesa border have called for a permanent solution to the situation at the border.

The driver’s have complained that they are spending more than seven days to reach Kasumbalesa border post.

The queues of trucks have spilled into Chambeshi and Chingola.

And Peter Makombe a Zimbabwean Truck Driver has appealed to the Zambian government to find a permanent solution at the border.

Mr Makombe said the challenges they are facing in Zambia is long queues.

“We have been on the queue for over Seven days when we join the queue near Chambishi about 21km from Chingola,” he said.

Yusuph Ngaranda another truck driver from Tanzanian said the most challenging thing at the moment is sanitation, no toilets, and a lot of money is spent in terms of food and other needs.

He said the other challenge is theft of diesel and damage to the trucks.

The Drivers are calling on the government to make truck shops so that trucks with documents may be parking there and when the agents say proceed the trucks will come from the truck shop.

And Chingola District Commissioner Raphael Chimupi said that the reason for the main queue stretching way beyond Chambishi is basically the attitude of the Colleagues from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Mr Chimupi said there working hour is unpredictable, sometimes they open the border at 09:30hours and close at 13:00hrs.
